ADHD Assessment
Acorn provides ADHD Assessments for children and youth aged 6-18.
Our screening process includes interviews and questionnaires with family, whānau and teachers, observation of your child at school, and interdisciplinary consultation as needed. We provide you with a report you can share with your child’s paediatrician or a psychiatrist who, if appropriate, can prescribe medication.
Our Assessment Process
-
The psychologist will email you assessment questionnaires to be filled out by you and by your child’s teacher. If the assessment is for a young person over the age of 14, they will also fill out a self-report questionnaire: Conner’s Rating Scale, 4th Edition.
These questionnaires are required to be completed at least one week before your first assessment meeting.
-
One of our psychologists will meet with you for one hour to learn as much as possible about your current concerns, your child’s development, strengths, interests, challenges and educational history.
-
One of our psychologists will interact with your child or young person to get to know them and observe traits of ADHD
-
The psychologist will meet with our interdisciplinary assessment team to go over the information gathered and analyse the data.
The team will formulate their clinical impressions, feedback and recommendations for the report.
The team may recommend further evaluation using more specialised tools at this time to rule out other co-occurring diagnoses.
-
The assessment results will be analysed.
A comprehensive report will be written summarising and explaining the results, as well as giving recommendations.
The psychologist will meet with you to discuss the findings and recommendations.
An additional meeting with your child’s school team is available upon request.
