ADHD Assessment

ADHD Assessments for young people aged 6-18.

Our ADHD assessment process is collaborative and child-centred. It includes meeting with you and your whānau, spending time getting to know your child, and gathering information through interviews and questionnaires completed by family and teachers. This helps us build a well-rounded understanding of your child’s strengths and needs. We also consult with our multidisciplinary team.

Following the assessment, you’ll receive a comprehensive report that includes recommendations to support your child at home and at school. You can also choose to share this report with your child’s paediatrician or a psychiatrist, who can discuss next steps and, if appropriate, medication options.

How it works

  • We will email you assessment questionnaires to be filled out by you and by your child’s teacher. If the assessment is for a young person over the age of 14, they will also fill out a self-report questionnaire: Conner’s Rating Scale, 4th Edition.

These questionnaires are required to be completed at least one week before your first assessment meeting.

  • We meet with you for an hour to learn as much as possible about your current concerns, your child’s development, strengths, interests, challenges and educational history.

  • We interact with your child or young person to get to know them and observe traits of ADHD

  • We meet with our interdisciplinary assessment team to go over the information gathered and analyse the data.

We formulate our clinical impressions, feedback and recommendations for the report.

We may recommend further evaluation using more specialised tools at this time to rule out other co-occurring diagnoses.

  • The assessment results will be analysed.

You’ll receive a comprehensive report explaining the results, as well as clear recommendations for support.

We meet with you to discuss the findings and recommendations.

An additional meeting with your child’s school team is available upon request.
