Acorn Charitable Trust is an interdisciplinary centre for neurodiverse children and youth. Our interdisciplinary team bring evidence-based practices from each of their fields to empower children to achieve what is important to them and their families. We believe that every person should be celebrated as an individual and that differences should be embraced. We strive to recognise an individual’s strengths and understand what is important to them and their family. We develop supports that will empower each individual to advocate for themselves, lead a meaningful life and thrive in their community.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide assessment of client needs

  • Provide written reports

  • Develop and implement therapy plans

  • Provide training/PD to parents, carers and other professionals such as teachers and care providers.

  • Work collaboratively with a team of clinicians including Speech & Language Therapists and Psychologists

Qualifications & experience

  • Paediatric Occupational Therapy experience is preferred but not essential.

  • NZ permanent residency/citizenship, or valid NZ work visa.

  • Experience in key domains including fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, social/emotional skills and activities of daily living, as well as general knowledge of child development.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to take specialist knowledge and translate it in a way that our clients and their families can understand.

  • Work collaboratively as part of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Experience supporting children with autism or other additional needs.

  • Clearance from a criminal record check.
